Usually hand drawn media is my strong suit, and when I got the brief for our first poster I was licking my lips. But I decided to switch it up for poster 1, chosing paint over pencils and markers. From Pinterest I had the idea to use masking tape to create a clean edge to my painting, while also getting the unique texture you get with acrylic paints. Below I have documented my process and how I ended at my final design. #des101 #process

Using masking tape to create a sharp geometric shape was a technique I learnt online, it was really helpful for this poster.

After painting around the tape, I had to wait to remove it and see the clean edges it had left underneath.

This short excerpt of a time lapse I took shows me removing the tape from the painting.

My final design - After taking off the masking tape it revealed a fairly clean paint job underneath!
