Stemming from the 'Young Enterprise Scheme', this bike racking system was a product for our business studies group, 'Starley Design Co' in 2019. Our group of 4, whom all shared a mutual interest for mountain biking, decided to design and market a bike rack like no other. Inspired by what I have seen in other cities across New Zealand, I saw a real need for a product like this in Auckland. Incorporating a bike rack with practical storage was a no brainer, so I went about creating 'the mailbox'. This first concept (seen below) was an excellent effort considering the budget and time we had. Advertising at local bike parks like Woodhill, and through social media channels, we gained some interest from cyclists around town that shared our view of the storage problem cyclists face. Although we didn't get our product to market, this was a great start to a project I hope to refine in the future.
