After the concept of storyboarding was introduced to us, I immediately thought about the hundreds of comics that I used to read when I was younger. Titles like Commando, Beano and Tintin used to inspire me to try and make my own comic strips. So with my iPad I went about sketching out a storyline with the theme of these comics as inspiration. Below I have documented the process I went through to create my final design. #des101 #process

This Tintin comic was one of my favourite reads growing up, and since it was based on a mountaineering journey, it was perfect inspiration for my storyboard based on my haiku.

Starting my storyboard was the hardest part. For some frames I had ideas in my head, I started to convert these onto the page and left the blank spaces for ideas to come later on. By doing this, I gave myself more time to refine the overall story. Russel, one of the lecturers said to me "Sometimes you need to finish before you know what to do next".

I took some inspiration from my abstract drawings of mountains and was able to implement them into some of my storyboard frames. These perspective frames also show the sketched style I used in this poster.
These two time lapse videos show the sketching process in this storyboard. I tried to keep it simple by using only the colour grey, along with two different thicknesses of pen. I showed details in the poster with thin, less opaque lines.

The final storyboard combined all of these elements together. I was really happy with the sketched style and how it could be seen across all frames when looking at the whole poster.
