Digital media has never been my strength, but for poster 2 I had no choice with the brief stating we needed to fabricate our design on a digital platform. So equipped with my iPad I sketched and rendered my movie poster. It was just like sketching on paper but I had the flexibility of adding sharp edges and rendering it. This was my first real project that I have done on the iPad, and I really enjoyed how easy it was to transfer ideas into sketches, making things so much more flexible. I took inspiration from one of my other art pieces to create this poster, its unique mountain shape fitted with the theme I wanted to create, so it made it easy to build the poster around it.Below I have documented my process to get to my final design. #des101 #process

These two pieces acted as my inspiration for this poster. They both had a nice colour palette and had clean geometric shapes. The top piece of art actually was what inspired me to create the below piece, following a similar mountain theme.

The initial shape for my mountain was pretty basic. I wanted to draw a perspective view of the edge and hoped different colours could help make it pop. I also added in a face to the edge of the mountain to add a double meaning to the whole design.

Experimentation with colours is really important with a movie poster. I wanted to achieve a vintage style to my poster and wanted to use paint to give a different texture to my colours. I tried a few different brushes and settled on one that showed some unique texture.

This short video shows how I rendered the mountain. By locking the different layers I was able to render each one separately, ensuring that there was clean edges.

This was the base shape I had for the mountain, I put the black on one side and the white on the other for contrast as well as the fact that the sun would be appearing to the left of the mountain, creating shadows. This texture is unique and helped me to achieve the vintage style.

Experimenting with different texts was key to creating visual impact for this poster. I dowloaded about 10 texts and tried all of them on my poster, eventually finding one to settle on.I also added other elements like the credits at the bottom and the film award badges to make the poster as authentic as possible.

With the inclusion of the blue background and textual elements, my poster was complete! I really like how all of the elements work together, creating the vintage vibe that I was looking for.
