Specula VR experience

Our brief was to design an assistive technology that addresses challenges related to COVID-19. Our group decided to focus on the problem of “non-existing crowds in professional sporting events”. Specula is a subscription service that helps to tackle the problem. Our subscription considered the different income levels of our users. Our tiering system caters to meet the wants of our target market by acknowledging the economical status of our users. The pandemic has led to people having limited resources. This is why Specula is available on varied devices that are specified in our visualization prototypes.


Within Specula, we have created ranked tiers for differing levels of service. The highest-ranked tier provides Specula glasses which cohesively brings both virtual reality and live sports together. All tiers involve natural ambient sounds that are created through the Specula glasses owners using the featured microphones. By involving the hearing and sight senses we are able to achieve an immersive and interactive experience without having to be physically in the stadium. Our subscription specializes in optimizing the user experience of watching sport. We have brought back the feeling of being part of a crowd, which highly differentiates our solution to how sporting events are currently just watched on TV.
