Poster 2 - Pinnacle Blue

In this poster, I set out to create a vintage looking movie poster for a film based on mountaineering. I intended to use a light colour palette to mirror the style of other vintage posters I have seen. Instead of illustrating a character as many other movie posters do, I wanted to focus on the story, hence the reason for the mountain as the most salient aspect on the page. I took the shape of a mountain I had drawn for another piece of work and made it the focal point. The face on the mountain symbolises that mother nature is metaphorically a living being, with changing of conditions and weather within the landscape. With nothing else in the foreground, the viewer can think about what significance the mountain has to them, if it is seen as an obstacle or as an opportunity, opening up the metaphorical meaning of the image. To support it I used two different texts that catch the eye of the viewer and also fit the theme of the movie. The textual elements along with the colour palette all contribute to the vintage theme I set out to achieve. #des101 #poster
