Poster 1 - Above and Below
Hand Drawn and Painted
With limited experience in painting, it might have been naive to take on the first poster with a paint brush, but I wanted to achieve a different look to what marker pens would accomplish. My aim for this poster was to create contrast in a literal sense and in a metaphorical sense. I took the mountain aspect from my haiku and used it to create an illustration that could be seen as either an iceberg or a mountain. My intention was to show that in life there is often more to what meets the eye after we dive under the surface. It may just look like an iceberg on one half of the image, but below the surface is an identical image with contrasting colours. This iterates that people have contrasting views on life, as people will looking at this poster seeing different colours and forms. The texture of paint really helped to bring this poster to life and create further contrast with the smooth paper. Overall, I was pleased with the result of this poster and the image it conveys. #des101 #poster
